I just started back up at work after a month off (yay for being a teacher!) and this e-book is exactly what I needed to keep me feeling energized. I began my day with the 20 minute “Booty Shorts” workout and a Blueberry Bliss Chia Chiller. I went into work feeling confident with a boost of energy!

The design of the e-book flows together so wonderfully. The pages shout summertime and make you want to dive into these recipes and exercise plans immediately!

Q&A with Brooke Showers – Designer of the Slimmer Summer E-Book

So Brooke, What has been your greatest inspiration thus far?

  • This may sound a little cheesy, but life has been my biggest inspiration! I’m such a sucker for memories and the experiences that life brings us. All I want to do is bottle them up and keep them forever! I think that with photography and design keepsakes, they really help to keep these memories close to us, however long ago they were.

 What is your favorite part of the designing process?

  •  Hmm… My favorite part would probably be when I see it in real life. That sounds a little silly, but its different seeing something you created on your computer screen (using Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign) than seeing your photo on someones wall, or your design on the side of a building, or when you see the logo you created being used for that company. It’s a pretty neat feeling! 

The design for the e-book shouts slimmer summer! How did you come up with the design?

  • Well thank you! When Lauren McBride and I talked about what sort of feel she wanted for this years edition of the Slimmer Summer eBook, she said “i want it clean, fresh, and vibrant!” So I got to work! Vibrant colors definitely work well with this eBook because it is visually stimulating and wakes you up, which will hopefully give you a little kick start to your motivation! I kept the photos bright and colorful so it’s fresh and consistent, leaving plenty of white space to keep it clean so your eyes don’t get tired and worn out. I still find it crazy how much a design can have an effect on a reader.
