I recently met someone who made me make a change in my life for the better. I was spending the night at said life changers house, when in the morning he said to me, “What’s the first thing you do when you wake up?” My thought…ugh, I probably roll over, cry and moan that I have to go to work, and then spend too many minutes scrolling through social media. His answer: I stretch..& I dance (okay, maybe he didn’t say dance, but I witnessed full on music blast dancing). It made me look at my routine in a new way. I wish I could say I woke up with the amount of energy and excitement for the day that I see him do, but I definitely don’t. So with that being said…
Prompt #1. Let’s look into our morning routine, specifically right when we wake up. (Let’s start small here)
Every evening (because my mind races with brilliant ideas at night) I’m going to write down one thing that I want to accomplish the next day. Something small or big. Something as simple as: make myself a home cooked meal for dinner instead of eating chocolate chips and an apple (everyone has their weaknesses) or something bigger like: meal plan for the entire week.
Now back to that morning routine. Wake up, spend at least 1 minute stretching, and remind myself of today’s mission that I came up with the night before. While I shower or drive to work, I’ll think about that mission. I’ll think about when and how I’ll
make it my bitch accomplish it.
Why are we doing this?: It’s about loving ourselves. Stretching will get our blood flowing, our muscles loosened, and bring us to an active state. Having a simple mission for the day provides us the fulfillment of accomplishment and completion. We’ve got this.
Make it your own: Everybody has their own schedule. Find YOUR best time to write down your mission, just make sure you do it! And whenever you might wake up, stretch for at least a minute!
