So there I was shoving my face with chocolate, ya know – typical Tuesday, when I stumbled upon an article that explained the reason why I’m not losing that “pouch”, that “flat tire” that “jelly roll” whatever ugly nickname you want to give lower belly fat. Major reason #1 – ya eat too much sugar lil’ lady! Say whaaat? Me? You’re right. I do. I love sugar. I love cookies. I love pie. I love chocolate and candy and cake and peanut butter and everything with sugar. Then I started realizing pretty much everything I eat has sugar…did you know a dang can of diced tomatoes has added sugar? Those suckers will get ya! While there is no way that I can say, “I quit sugar” – I can say, I’ve started to pay a lot more attention to how much I’m actually eating. (answer – so much, so very very much).
It was then that I looked to the sugar-free expert, Sarah Wilson, for some help. Sarah is the author of The I Quit Sugar Cookbook. A glorious cookbook full of 306 recipes that make my mouth water including four very lush mug cakes, cheesecake stuffed peaches with basil, and margarita popsticks. For real, I was stoked to get my hands on this book.
From start to finish this cookbook is full of stunning food photography, the kind that makes you want to eat the picture. It also includes little hand written notes and helpful hints, like how to keep your cookies fresh and how to perfectly peel a boiled egg. While the recipes do call for some fancy ingredients that I can’t say I have laying around in my pantry, they are definitely do-able and I’m excited to dive in and starting making a mess in the kitchen!
I received this book from Blogging for Books for this review. But all opinions are my own.
