Okay, I know resisting the candy bowl is MUCH easier said than done. Believe me, I’m writing this post mostly as a reminder for myself. For my job, it’s not a requirement we go into the office everyday because we are always out in the community. But recently, the director of our company sent an email to everyone saying there were homemade chocolate chip cookies in the office. I rearranged my schedule just so I could make it into my office to devour a handful of cookies. (I think I have a problem.) The whole 45 minute drive into the office my mouth was watering and I couldn’t wait to get there. Only to my surprise, the cookies were 100% GONE by the time I got there. I about lost it. Maybe everyday can’t be perfect and you need to devour some treats, but there are ways to resist that candy bowl and those homemade cookies.
Here are three tips to resist the candy bowl:
- Pack fun, filling, healthy snacks. If I have an exciting snack waiting for me, it makes for fewer trips to the candy bowl. Consider these 3 on the go celery snack options. Okay, I know celery isn’t like candy. But each option is full of flavor and much healthier than those handfuls of candy corn!
- Keep a stash of healthy snacks in your desk. Consider keeping bags of almonds, trail mix, and popcorn in your desk for when the hunger kicks in and you haven’t packed any snacks.
- Allow yourself one. Go into the office with the idea that there is only 1 piece of candy left and it’s all yours. Savor it and don’t you dare go back for one more.
